The effects of inhibitors (vanadate, nitrate and azide) of three types of higher plant H^+-ATP-ase on membrane-associated Mg^<2+>-ATPase activity are often examined in the presence of sucrose. We report here that sucrose itself decreases in vanadate-sensitive ATPase activity of higher plant membranes.
