The uptake of sorbitol into vacuoles from immature flesh of apple fruit (Malus pumila Mill. var domestica Schneid.) was facilitated by 10^<-6> M ABA, while such uptake into protoplasts was not stimulated. By contrast, the application of 10^<-5> M IAA facilitated uptake of sorbitol into protoplast but did not significantly into vacuoles.
