Stone parsley, soybean, sunflower, sweet potato, potato, and adlay cultivated in a Cd^<2+>-containing medium had Cd-binding complexes with molecular weights of about 4,000 in the root tissues. The complexes were similar to the complex previously found in water hyacinth roots in their absorption and CD spectra and their amino acid compositions. The results indicate the widespread existence of complexes similar to fission yeast Cd-BPl in roots of various plants.
