Sulfoquinovosyl Diacylglycerols in Chilling-Sensitive and Chilling-Resistant Plants

Sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerols were isolated from leaves of chilling-sensitive and chilling-resistant plants. They were then fractionated by argentation thin-layer chromatography on silica gel according to the degree of unsaturation of their fatty acids, and the molecular species compositions of the lipids were determined from the fatty acid compositions of the separated fractions. The results suggest that the saturated molecular species of sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol are not directly correlated with the chilling sensitivity of plants.
