High-Contrast Ratio Driving Method for Plasma Display Panel (情報ディスプレイ--The 6th Asian Symposium on Information Display & Exhibition)

A new driving waveform is developed on the base of conventional ADS scheme to improve the contrast ratio of color PDPs. According to this driving waveform, there is only one self-erasing discharge in the first sub-field of one TV field. And in the reset period of other sub-fields, two slope pulses are used to make all the cells be in identical state. Thus the background light from control discharges is reduced, and the contrast ratio is improved compared with the conventional ADS driving waveform.
