The firing voltage is one of the critical parameters of affecting Color AC-PDP's operation characteristics. There are many factors having influence on the firing voltage, of which the gas pressure and the gas composition are two principal factors. In this paper, the firing voltage equation of gas-discharge occurring in Color AC-PDP was derived, and the effects of the gas pressure and the Xe content in gas mixture on the firing voltage were investigated. The results indicate that as the gas pressure increases, the firing voltage has a minimum value; as the Xe content in gas mixture increases, the firing voltage rises, and the gas pressure with the minimum firing voltage changes little.
