A numerical simulation method is developed to study the influence of the discharge cell structure parameters on the firing voltage of the surface discharge AC PDP. The influences of the dicharge cell structure parameters such as electrode gap length, electrode width, barrier rib height, dielectric thickness, permittivity and address electrode biasing voltage on the firing voltage of the surface discharge AC PDP are obtained. The results are obtained. The results are helpful for optimizing the structure design of the discharge cell in the surface discharge AC PDP.
