5β, 25D-Spirostan-7α-ol, -7β-ol, -7-one and some other derivatives were synthesized from 7α-hydroxydiosgenin acetate via 7α-(tetrahydro-2'-pyranyloxy)-25D-spirost-4-en-3-one. Some 5α-derivatives were also derived from the same intermediate.
