The flower-visiting of the drosophilid fly Scaptomyza pallida was studied in Tomakomai, Hokkaido. Nectar intake by adults was ascertained by paper chromatographic analysis of the crop contents, but feeding behaviour, daily dynamics, and effects of nectar intake on egg production as well as adult survival suggest no specialization to nectarivorous habit.
