The Transpalaearctic halictine species Halictus (Seladonia) tumulorum (LINNE) is divided in two subspecies. The eastern subspecies H. t. higashi ssp. nov. is characterized by wider apical hair bands of female metasomal terga and less shagreened sculpture on head and mesosoma, particularly in males. This subspecies is distributed in northern Japan and notheastern Asia, westward certainly to Manchuria.
