This paper deals with the tensile strength of partial penetration groove welded joint, theoretically and experimentally. The mechanical behaviour of this joint is investigated and the effects of leg length and depth of penetration on the tensile strength of partial penetration groove welded joint are proved experimentally. The tensile strength of this joint is given as a function of leg length and depth of penetration theoretically and the diagram for design of partial penetration groove welded joints is also presented.
