Some Pseudoregma species produce morphologically peculiar "pseudoscorpion-like" larvae, but their biological meaning has hitherto been unknown. The following observations in Pseudoregma alexanderi supported AOKI's (1977 a) suggestion that they are soldiers producing no progeny of their own : 1) When a coccinellid larva was placed on a colony of this species, a pseudoscorpion-like larva clutched at it. 2) Having examined the specimens preserved in alcohol, we found more than 20 pseudoscorpion-like larvae putting their frontal horns into the body of another individual. 3) Although we examined more than 100 mounted specimens of pseudoscorpion-like larva, none had the skin of the next instar inside. The nature of frontal horns and enlarged fore legs of the pseudoscorpion-like larva is briefly discussed.
