Pseudoscorpion-like 2nd instar larvae were found in galls made by Pseudoregma shitosanensis on Styrax suberifolia. I suggest that they are sterile soldiers because of their peculiar morphology and the fact that none of the pseudoscorpion-like larvae examined had the next instar skin inside. P. shitosanensis was originally described as a species of the genus Astegopteryx, but examination of embryos contained in alatae (emigrants) showed that P. shitosanensis is closely allied to Pseudoregma panicola and may even be conspecific with it.
