Bombus ignitus fed the larvae by progressive depositing semi-viscous liquid food on thoraco-ventral surface of larval body. Feeding was mostly performed by the younger workers. All larvae were fed the same food, irrespective of castes and males. Daily food consumption in two colonies (96-I-1, 95-I-2) was 1.3±1.2, 1.8±1.9 g of pollen and 8.3±6.6, 12.5±10.5 ml of honey solution, respectively, being larger in the colony produced more reproductives (95-I-2). Feeding behavior of adults slightly varied as they made feeding orifice on the larval cells. The queen larvae were fed for a longer duration than that of worker larvae ; duration of feeding orifice kept open was 7.4 days for queen larvae while 5.4 days for worker larvae. That longer possessing of feeding orifice may have a role in caste differentiation along with other factors.
