Genus Kashimachelifer, gen. nov. Diagnosis: Carapace some what wider than long, uniformly glanular; both transverse furrows deeply impressed. Tergites divided; lateral keels of the male completely absent. Flagellar setae of chelicera smooth, not serrate. Movable chelal finger with ST nearer to SB than to T; fixed finger with IST and EST almost at the same level about the midpoint of the finger, but the former located a little proximal than the latter; inner surface of palpal femur and tibia ornamented by conspicious setiferous tubercles interspersed among the investing granules. Coxa of the fourth leg of the male with coxal sac and the spur on the same coxa is lacking; tarsus of the first leg of the male without terminal spine, subterminal setae of the fourth taersus simple and tactile setae on the same tarsus are lacking; claws of pedal tarsi simple, but in the first leg of the male, one of the claws bears an accessory tooth, and it is not strictly bifid. Generotype (ORTHOTYPE): Kashimahelifer cinnamoneus gen. and sp. nov. Remarks; This genus has considerable relationship with Metachelier REDIKORTZEV, 1938 from Indo-China. The present new genus can be seperated from it by the complete division of the tergites, the absence of tergal keels and coxal spur of the male, and the shape of the first pedal tarsus. Kashinachelifer cinnamomeus sp. nov. Diagnosis: Both sexes in general appearace very similar. Carapace of usual shape, somewhat shorter than posterior breadth, coarsely granulated, both transverse furrows distinct, the posterior ones about one-half as far from the posterior carapacal margin as from the median furrow; lateral crest of the male not present. Eyes present. Tergite completely divided and granulated, without lateral keels. Tergal chaetotaxy: 10-10-10-12-12-12 including all setae of irregular lows, sternites with 9-13-13-13 setae (segments 4-7). Flagellum with 3 setae. Palps moderately robust, longer than the body length, heavy granulated, on the inner margins of the femur and tibia with conspicuous setiferous tubercles; vestitural setae thickened to denticuloclavate; both palpal fingers with venedentis and venomapparatus, without accessory teeth. Femur 4.4 (in male) and 3.7 (in female) times, tibia 3.9 (in male) and 3.5 (in female) times, chela 4.0 (in male) and 3.6 (in femal) times as long as broad; finger as long as or somewhat shorter than the hand. The tactile hair IST located a little proximal from EST, but nearly the midpoint of the finger and approximately opposite; ESB, EB, ISB and IB basally clustered on the finger: ST somewhat nearer to SB than to T, and submedian between T and B; SB and B are rather closely, longitudinally paired and nearly basal in position. Sense spots are scattered on the basal half of the finger and along the axial line of the ventral side of the hand. Claws of the legs and subterminal setae on tarsi are simple, but in the first leg of the male, one of the claws bears an accessory tooth (Fig. 1C); fourth tarsus without tactile setae. coxal sac of the male composed atrium, coxal spur absent; statumen convolutum of genital apparatus deeply hollowed at terminal and in the hollow inserted a chitinized staff. Cribriform plates of the female genitalia small. Color: palps, carapace and tergites reddish dark-brown; legs and chelicerae reddish brown; the intersticial parts of tergites yellow-ish, and ventral side of abdomen yellowish white. Measurements: (mm)--Male. Total length 2.51. Carapace 0.86 long, 0.93 broad. Palps: trochanter 0.46×0.29; femur 0.94×0.21; tibia 0.94×0.24; hand 0.79×0.35; mavable finger 0.72 long. --Female. Total length 2.82. Carapae 0.93 long, 0.99 broad. Palps: trochanter 0.51×0.33; femur 0.99×0.27; tibia 0.99×0.28; hand 0.77×0.40; movable finger 0.77 long. Holotype ♂, Kashima Islet, the Bay of Tanabe, Wakayama Pref., Honshu, collected under the bark of Cinnamomum camphora, June 3, 1956, by the author. Allotype ♀, the same data and collected by Shin GOTO. 7
