• Solinus japonicus sp. nov. (Fig. 1) Body long and worm-like. Legs short and thick; arolium plainly bifurcate; femoral articulation of legs I and II practically immobile and subvertical; femur pars tibialis of legs I and II distinctly longer than pars basalis. With 4 well developed eyes and without epistomal process. Venom-apparatus developed in both fixed and movable fingers; T and ST absent: EST and IB closely grouped with other members of thier respective series at the finger-basis, only ET isolated near the tip of the finger (Fig. 2); fixed finger of chela with 22 fairly strong teeth set closely over the tatal length, but movable finger with 15 low and small teeth from its tip to the middle; palpal femur with a long tactile seta which is about as long as the length of palpal coxa and situated at the position slightly approaching towards the base from the middle of femur. Flagellum of 4 blades; cheliceral palm with 5 setae; serrula exterior with 14 blades; lamina exterior absent. Tergites and sternites unclearly divided into scuta; tergal chaetotaxy: 4-4-4-4-6-6-6; sternal chaetotaxy: 4-4-6-6-6-4-4. Abdomen long and parallel sided; pleural membrane wrinkled-plicate. Metatarsus four with a well-developed basal tactile seta which is as long as entire tarsus. Measurement (mm): male. total length 1.79. Carapace 0.45 long and 0.36 broad posteriorly. abdomen 1.34 long. palpus: trochanter 0.18×0.10; femur 0.35×0.10; tibia 0.31×0.13; hand 0.32×0.16; fingers 0.26 long. Leg IX: femur 0.29×0.13; tibia 0.20×0.07; metatarsus 0.07×0.05; telotarsus 0.08×0.05. Holotype: ♂, Fukaura, the southern part of Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku, collected by K. Morikawa, Aug. 7, 1952, under the bark of Quercus phillyraeoides at the seashore. Remarks: This new species closely resembles S. corticolus (Chamberlin 1923) from Mexico, but differs in the body length and also in the presence of a long tactile seta on palpal femur.
