The cross experiments between goldfish eggs and some foreign sperm, i. e. between different classes, suborders, families, genera or species, were made and the development of stockes of crossed eggs were compared with each other. In the interfamiliar and intergeneric cross bred eggs the initial cleavage seemed to be identical with that of pure bred ones. Most of them died during earlier embryonic life, with a few deformed larvae which died within one to twenty five days after hatching. However, the crossed eggs between goldfish (Carassius auratus) ♀ and carp (Cyprinus carpio) ♂ developed normally. In the cross bred eggs it was found a gradient of the developmental vigor, and the order of this gradient does not coincide with that from the taxonomical point of view, which insists the relation between goldfish and mud loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) or spinous loach (Cobitis biwae) is far more apart that between goldfish and oikawa (Zacco patipus) or river chub (Zacco temminkii). The eggs inseminated with sperm of medaka (Oryzias latipes) and frog (Rana nigromaculata) did not develop at all.
