Saccharomyces cerevisiaeを廃糖蜜培地を用い, 溶存酸素制限下で連続培養を行った.定常状態に達した後, 通気量を2倍にすると, 菌濃度は急速に1.5倍に増加した.しかし通気量をもとにもどすことにより菌濃度, 全還元糖濃度とも以前の定常値にもどった.この操作を数回繰り返しても一定の定常値に復することが確かめられた.
