Statistical features of cyclones in Bangladesh in the 14 recent years (1981-1994) are summarized from various statistical published data. Eleven cyclones struck Bangladesh, including four severe ones of hurricane intensity which caused large amounts of damage in the coastal area of Bangladesh. Seasonal variations in the occurrence of cyclonic storms in the Bay of Bengal are made clear climatologically. The method developed for the objective analysis of typhoons in Japan is applied to three typical cyclones in Bangladesh. The pressure and high wind field in these cyclones could be estimated using this method. More meteorological data for the Bay of Bengal and neighboring countries, however, are necessary to make a more precise simulation.
