Spectral characteristics of the vertical velocity (w) and temperature fluctuations above and within a taro canopy are discussed using a short span (3cm) sonic anemometers and fine wire thermometers. Above the canopy, the shape of w spectra are similar to those obtained over bare surface or grass-land. Within the canopy, alternatively, it is rather flat and no clear peaks are recognized. The slope of the high frequency spectra are steeper then -2/3 and the inertial subrange is not found. The temperature spectra above and inside the canopy are similar to each other.
