There have been reported a number of cases of accidental contamination of HCV, HBs and HIV viruses caused by mishandling of medical needles.Of the reported accidnets, 60%- occurred when the needles were about to be recapped, regardless if the needles were used for vacuum blood collection or for injection.While a variety of test tubes are currently used in the field of clinic examinations including blood examinations, needles for drewing blood are popularly by vacuum.Needles of the vacuum blood drawing type have the following drawbacks.1.If the needle tip is dierced into the blood vessel, it cannot be confirmed until a vacuum test tube is connected to the back of the needle.2.There is no way to teil if a needle of the vacuum blood drawing type is new or used.3.The needle of the vacuum blood drawing type cannot be removed from the test tube until the needle is recapped.The following structual features of our newly developed needle makes it free from the above drawbacks conventional needles.1.Once the needle tip is pieced into the blood vessel, the blood flowing in the base section of the needle can be visually confirmed.2.The needle can be removed from the test tube by a single hand without recapping it.3.Once the needle is used, blood remaining in the space within the needle becomes visible to prevent any erreneous reuse.Thus, out new needle aloows the opration of drawing blood to become quicker and safer then ever by eliminating any possible failure of the operator and danger to the subject.
