The objective of this paper is to present a concept of structural dynamic design considering controllability for smart structures. The actuator, which is a base of the smart structure, is composed of a thin piezoelectric film in this study. To achieve high controllability for suppressing vibration of the objective mode, structural optimization is applied for the smart structure. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results.
