In this paper, an elemental study related to the selection of tool materials used to cut plastics is made and the tool wears caused by cutting of plastics with High-Speed-Steel tool and some kinds of carbide tools are discussed. From these studies, some effects of cutting conditions upon the tool wear and the kind of tool materials most suitable for cutting of plastics are made clear.
