Experiments have been carried out on the resistance of a smooth and rough rotating disk in dilute polymer solutions. As the result, it has been made clear that the coefficient of the frictional torque of a rotating disk in the polymer solutions depends upon Reynolds number and the parameter which includes the disk diameter. The semi-experimental formula for the smooth and rough disk was obtained by using the assumption that the viscoelastic effect of the polymer solutions brings about a decrease in the mixture length.
