In 18 women, the fetal wastage was estimated during 7-12 weeks gestation, by means of ultrasonic tomography. In most cases, the gestational sacs decreased by as much as 50% and the fetus by 11%, up to 14 weeks gestation. Based on the number of gestational sacs, the incidence of fetal wastage was 30-70% during 7-12 weeks gestation and term. At the time of delivery, there was no evidence revealing the expiration of the fetus. For an accurate estimation of missed abortion in multiple pregnancy, further studies are required.
