In a solution containing tnicroions frotn an ;tdded electrolyte, the effective interaction potentialbetween colloidal particles is sttrdied on the basis of the priznitive tmodel. The approxitmationis employed that the correlations of solvent-particles with rnicroions can be neglected, and thepotential is calculated xvith the trse of' the rrtean spherical approxiunation solution of the Ornstein-Zernike equation with the Ytrkawa closure. In the case of the hydrophobic colloid, the tlueory isdisctrssed in cortuparison xvitla the DLVO theory and a role of true solvent-mediated potential isezaaphasized.
