A Self-Consistent Open Boundary Model for Particle Simulation in Plasmas

A boundary-free particle sinaulation naodel, applicable to a local open systetn in which theinternal plasnua is contintrotmsly and smoothly connected to an external plasma source such as acurrent generator, is developed. We present this fortnalism and examine the range of applicabilityof this procedtrre. This scheme assures a balance between the outgoung and incomung particlefluxes through the systena botrndaries at each tiune step. The nurnerical code developed onthis principle is applied to an ion acotrstic double layer trnder the condition that the systetn isconnected to a constant current generator to confirm the sotrndness and validity of' the code.
