Slave Fermion Theory of the Coupled Spin-Fermion Model of the High-T_c Superconductors

The slave fermion method is applied to the study of the ground state properties ofthe two-dimensional coupled spin-fermion model which describes the Cu-0 plane ofthe high-7'. oxide superconductors. It is found that the antiferromagnetic spin struc-lure of the Heisenberg spin system is deformed into an incommensurate one in thepresence of the fermions. For low fermion densities, a single incomrnensuratemagnetic order appears, while for higher fermion densities, either the mixed phase oftwo incommensurate magnetic orders or the nonmagnetic phase appears dependingon the model parameters. It is also shown that the effective interaction between the fer-mions is attractive for low fermion densities.
