The birth-death process of"soliton"-like excitation in the 1D Benney equation is studied. It is shown that the"soliton"-number fluctuation is subjected to the sub-Poissonian statistics, which is caused by the interaction between"solitons"and"radiation". The features of "soliton"-like excitations and the relevance of "hole"-like excitation are described from the points of view of the stochastic process and statistical mechanics.
