In order to investigat?: the pair-breal<ing mechanism in superconducting films superposed with thin normal metal (Au, Ag, or Cu), the ixtelastic electron scatteriutg rateI / r?,. and the spin-orbit scattering rate l / r.,. have been studied for aluminum films. The rate 1 / r?,. has been expressed as a sum of three rates 1 / r,.. (electron-fluctuation),I / "c-e (electron-electron.) and 1 / r.-,. (electron-phonon). It has been found fl?at 1) theeffect o f superpositiort c>n each rate depends on the superposed metals and on prepara-lion conditions of Al film; 2) the rate l / r,. determincs essentially the pair-breakingpararneter i in the Maki-Thompson term for excess conductance, although l / r,. increases more strongly xvith heavier superposed metal; and 3) the increment of i ob-served in Al / Au films is caused by the enltancement of 1 / r,?,...[superconducting filrrm, normal-metal superposition, preparation condition, pair- l] breaking parameter, inelastic scattering time, spin?-orbit scattering timel
