Superhyperfine Structure in EPR of Cr-Doped SnO_2 Single Crystals

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of Cr-doped Sn0. crystals has beenstudied using an X-band spectrometer at room temperature. In the as-grown crystals,two distinct EPR spectra, designated as (EPR). and (EPR).., with different values ofthe spin-Hamiltonian parameters have been observed in our experiments. The lines ofthese spectra are superhyperfine-broadened with superhyperfine structure (shfs) ofneighboring Sn nuclei. The line-intensity ratio of the shfs for the (EPR).. has been1.000:0.477:0.141:0.120:0.195:0.096:0.040. The analysis of the line-intensity ratio ofthe shfs shows that the (EPR).. is not due to Cr" ions in the interstitial positions, butis attributed to Cr" in the substitutional sites with a rhombic distortion in S1102crystal.[51102 crystal, Cr ion, ESR, EPR, superhyperfine structure, lattice site of Cr ton, lg line intensity ratio of superhyperfine structure, experiment.l
