Magnetization of Fe,Ga. is measured as a function of magnetic field andtemperature. In weak fields, Fe,Ga. is an antiferromagnetic with a N<Sel temperatureof 392 K. In strong fields, it shows a metamagnetic transition and gives a saturationmoment of 1.27 p. per Fe atom at 4.2 K and 70k0e. Its M6ssbauer spectrum isanalyzed into four sextets, assigned to the crystal site Fe(l), Fe(2), Fe(3) and fe(4):each site has, respectively, an internal field of 225, 190, 150 and 171 k0e at 80 K. Themagnetic phase diagram of Fe3Ga. involving the metamagnetism can be explained bythe Moriya-Usami theory.
