Magnetic Properties of Au_4 V Single Crystal

Single crystal of ordered AU4V was prepared to reveal the izatrinsic maguxeticrrorerties. The maaetizations alons the three directions [1001, [0111 and [1111for the original fcc lattice were measured in a temperatgre range 4.2 K to 300 Kunder magnetic field up to 90 k0e. A remarkable field cooling effect of themagnetization was interpreted by a crystal and magnetic domain model. Thusthe moment ca. 1 p. jeer V atom and the large tmiaxial anisotropy energy, 1.52 Xl0'erg/cm' (6.3cm-" per V atom), were determined at 4.2K. The magnet?cproperties of the poly and single crystals were compared. The electrical resistivitiesof the ordered and disordered Au.V were measured. The origin of the anisotropyand the magnetic property were discussed on a basis of itinerant electron scheme.
