Phase-Conjugation by Four-Wave Mixing in CuCl:Resonance Enhancement by Exciton and Excitonic Molecule and Its Polarization Dependence

The phase-conjugation in crystalline Curl has been studied at 1.6 K. It hasbeen found that the two-photon resonarice of the T.-excitonie molecule and theone-photon resonance of the f.-exciton contribute to the generation of the phase-conjugated wave. Each contribution has been separated spectroscopically byadjusting the polarization configuration of the incic[ent fields adequately and hasbeen comr>ared cuualitativelv witla the thcor'z. The efficienc>z of the rhase-con-jugated reflection has become maximum at around the two-photon resonance ofthe excitonic molecule, 3.186 eV' and has been - l '3 at the maximum.
