Electronic States of Disordered Binary Alloys with Strong Off-Diagonal Disorder

The properties of eigenvalues and/or eigenfunctio?'ts of disordered binary alloysA.B.-. with off-diagonal disorder are investigated numerically in the two-dimensional square lattice with 50 x 50 lattice sites. Special attention is focusedon the eigenfunctions near the band edges of A or B subbands when t.. is muchlarger than ZAA and ZBB, where t,'s (i, 7=A or B) are transfer energies between iand j sites. It is shown that the states near the inner band edges are highly localizedwithin A or B atom clusters and the states near the outer band edges are localizedwithin the clusters of atoms connected by AB bonds. The ntumerical results ofthe density of states as a function of t.. are consistent with our previous resultsand support the importance of the repulsive effect between baxtds.
