Magnetization process is studied theoretically on the basis of the ?4-sublatticehamiltonian obtained by adding a weak interlayer exchange to the 2-sublatticehamiltonian introduced by Seehra, and Castner. Equations of torque balancederived by applying the molecular field approximation at 7"=0 are truncated byneglecting smaller terms. The resulting simplified equations are solved analyticallyor numerically and the magnetization curve is obtained. The result indicates thatthe unique mangetization process of these salts is attributable to the fi?:ld-inducedtransition from a 4- to a 2-sublattice state which is related closet)z to the 2-dimensionality of the crystal. The jumping field for H//b is given ap)>roximatelyby twice of the interlayer exchange field divided by the a " b-element c>f the effec-five g-tensor.
