A temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation time T. of acrylonitrilewas studied by using a pulse NMR to elucidate a presence of liquid-liqttid transi-?lion. In the 7'.-temperature diagrarrt, Tg changed discontinuously al: -26'C.This indicated that liquid-liquid transition of acrylonitrile exists at --26'C atatmospheric pressure. Molecular motions which contribute to the relaxationmechanism can be separated into two>parts, rotational and translational motion.A degree of discontinuity in Tg frorrt the rotational motion was larger than thatfrom the translational motion. Thc rotational motion of acrylonitrile plays an.important role in the phase transition.
