A new type of impurity drift instability is studied in the limit of short mean free path. The mode is driven by the ton parallel viscosity, and is stabilized by the collisionaldiffusion across the magnetic field when the impurity concentration is less than a certainvalue. This coincides with the stability condition f'or the collisionless impurity driftmode.
