Perturbational Approach to the Dynamics of Homogeneous Turbulence

A svstematic r>erturbation method is developed for 'the initial value problena ofhomogeneous turbulence in an incompressible viscous fluid. By the aid of a dia-gram technique, the perturbation series in powers of the Reynolds number (7?e)with associated renorntalization procedures is derived for the case of an initiallyGaussian velocity field. It is demonstrated that this approach is convenient forinspecting the analytical properties of the 7<e-expansion series of the initial valueproblemn. Furthermore, under the Gaussian initial condition the O-4th cumulantapproximation as well as Kraichnan's (Eulerian) 0.1. approxintation is inter-preted as a partial sum of the 7?e-expansion series.
