An analysis is made of an attractive force experienced by two equal parallil plates which start impulsively with constant velocity parallel to themselves. The flow in the initial period is investigated on the basis of the Navier-Stokes equations. The present analysis concludes that in the initial period each plate experiences an attractive force, irrespective of the usual Reynolds number based on the constant velocity and the length length of length of the plates, at least when the distance between them is large compared with the length.
