Spectroscopic measurements of the electron temperatures T_e, have been made for the atmospheric argon plasmas seeded with sodium vapors at gas temperatures above 2000℃. The relationship between T_e and current density j has also been obtained. The values of j calculated from the measured T_e and seeding ratios agree well with the experimental values. These results indicate that an electron energy equation containing radiation loss terms is applicable to the estimation of the nonequilibrium ionization in the working plasmas for the magnetoplasma-dynamic power generating systems.
