A direct determination of the flow velocity was made by the flight time measurement of the luminous cloud in the measurement of velocity was 6.3% (standard deviation). The velocity values obtained in this way were compared with those obtained by two other indirect methods: one based on the mass conservation equation of plasma flow, and the other on the use of MHD electromotive force. By making some assumptions on the turbulent velocity distribution in a smooth pipe, the local velocity was evaluated by the first indirect method. The values obtained were in fairly good agreement with those determined by the direct method and by the second indirect method. A few corrections which should be made for obtaining reliable results by the two indirect methods are described.
