Recently Bean^<1)> and Kim et al.^<2)> investigated a behavior of the magnetization of sintered Nb_3Sn and Nb-Zr (25%) samples. In the present note will be reported, the magnetization of Nb-Zr (25%) wire in a transverse field and peculiar properties of high-field superconducting wire; the remanence and the hysteresis curve. The sample consists of a bifilarly wound non-inductive two layer coil, 1.3cm in length, O.5cm in diameter, of cold worked, O.01" Nb-Zr (25%) insulated wire of the Wah Chang Corporation. Between layers manganin wire is non-inductively wound as a heater to drive thermally the sample to the normal state. The magnetization measurement was made at 4.2°K, by observing ballistically the induced emf in pick-up coils tightly wound inside and ouside of the sample. External field was changed at the rate of about 130G/sec. When the sample was quenched to the normal state by a beat pulse, a magnetic flux change occurred in both pick-up coils, by disappearance of the induced magnetic moment in the wire. The flux change in the inner coil was opposite in direction to and smaller in an order of magnitude than that in the outer coil.
