The conductivity data by Morin^<1)> in some of the oxides of Ti and V show the large discontinuity (a factor of 10^6) from non-metallic behaviour as the temperature is raised at the atmospheric pressure. In V_20_4 and V_20_3 the transitions occur near 340°K and 150°K, respectively. X-ray data^<2)>,^<3)> show the structural distortion to lower symmetry on cooling through the transition; tetragonal rutile to monoclinic in V_20_4 and hexagonal corundum to monoclinic in V_20_3. Austin^<4)> studied the pressure dependence of the transition point in V_20_3 up to 15 kilobars; dT_0/dP=-(4.1±O.3)x1O^<-3> deg. bar^<-1> and suggested that the transition was second order or higher. However, the presice data in molar volume change near the transition Point are necessary to decide the order of the transition. At the present work the pressure dependence of the transition point in V_20_4 and V_20_3 up to 160 kilobars at temperatures from 77 to 500°K with Drickamer's cell^<5)> and the X-ray evidence for molar volume change near the transition point at the atmospheric Pressure at temperatures from 77 to 800°K were studied.
