Numerical Calculation of the Electrical Conductivity of the Anderson Model : Three-Dimensional Model

The electrical conductivity of the three-dimensional Anderson model is calculated numerically by a direct application of the Kubo-Greenwood formula to a finite system. The samples used in the calculation have a simple cubic lattice of size 10×10×10 (=1,000 lattice sites in total) and the numerical results are given as the sample averages over about thirteen samples. It is found that the coherent potential approximation reproduces well the numerical results as long as the ratio of the width of the distribution of site energy, W, to the transfer energy |V| is not larger than 9. However, it makes an overestimation for larger |W/V|.
