Orobanche ramosa seeds were induced into wet dormancy after conditioning for about 13 weeks, while O. minor seeds still had high germinability even after conditioning for 35 weeks. There was variation of germinability of conditioned Orobanche seeds incubated directly on the root system of various Brassica spp., Arabidopsis and red clover in 9-cm Petri dish with sterile water. Germination stimulants were extracted weekly from hydroponically grown roots of various Brassica spp. and Arabidopsis. The bio-test of stimulants was satisfactory, with about 85% of germination for Arabidopsis and some Brassica varieties. There was much variation in the bio-test of stimulants among Brassica varieties examined. From the LC/MS/MS analyes, it seemed that both Brassica and Arabidopsis produced orobanchol but not strigol.
