Ellen Karolina Sofia Key, as a Swedish educational thinker of the New Education that was developed in the world from the end of nineteenth century to the head of twentieth century, considered the rights of child in "The Century of the Child"(1990), and advocated the education for motherhood in "The Renaissance of Motherhood"(1914). Quoting Goethe's words, she says that the future power of will lies hidden in the characteristics of the child, even in every fault of the child an uncorrupted germ capable of producing good is enclosed, and she says a child has the fights that are just as firm as his parents. According to this view of child, she maintains it is a pedagpgical crime to suppress the real personality of the child ; the true education is to help the natural activity of the child. On the other hand, Ellen Key demands the doing away with an unjust paragraph in a law which concerns woman in order to protect the rights of woman and the motherhood. That is to say, she thinks the motherhood is essential for woman, so it must be protected by law, namely the prohibition of woman's hard work for child-birth and rearing. Because Key thinks the child is happier if its mother takes care of it at home, she demands the need of education for motherhood in order to educate the new generation. She says that the most suitable period for the education of motherhood is twenty-one years old, that is, the legal marriage, and its curriculum is the first principles of domestic science and psychology, education for children, also the fundamental principles of hygiene and eugenics. Her aim of this education for motherhood is the supplying the various nations with many good mothers well able to fulfil the duties of the home and the levelling of class distinction, especially to defend and care for the new generation on which the future depends. Therefore, her theory about the rights of child and the education of motherhood is a pioneering and model idea that woman and mothers reconsider the rights of child and motherhood.
