Although steam-ejectors have long been used in practice, there is no theory of practical use for calculating and designing ejectors even now. Most of the designers have hitherto been obliged to depend upon their experiences. Concerning the theories of steam-ejectors, nearly all the text-books mention a theory similar to that of Stodola described in his famous book. His theory, however, is too simple to be useful for the design in practice. G. Fluegel attempted to solve the problem more completely by hydrocynamics, but his theory is, on the contrary, too complex to be of practical use. In this paper, therefore, was introduced a constant called "ejector constant" for the convenience of calculating steam-ejectors, so that the dimensions of steam-ejectors could be determined theore-tically. The cause of the so-called hysteresis phenomena of steam-ejectors was also discussed.
