Since the introduction of the internet, methods of disseminating information have changed a great deal. Many individuals and non-media companies and organizations can spread various information publicly without a sense of social responsibility which is a common understanding in journalism. One may say the information technology has liberated those people who didn't have any means of disseminating information. This fact can be viewed as "information democracy, " but at the same time, it has also brought on an anarchical condition. Many non-media organizations have been showing big interests in media industry. Evidence for this can be seen in the influx of non-media companies into new multi-channel broadcasting systems as well as in the internet. On the internet, many non-media sites are providing richer and faster information than those of the conventional media. This paper sees this situation as a "media big bang" and discusses how the role of journalism will have to change in order to facilitate its survival in the future.
