Low Energy π-N Scattering and Spin-3/2 Particle

Low energy π-N scattering is investigated on the basis of the one-particle-exchange model. The Δ_<33> and N_<13> contributions are calculated by assuming the most general spin-3/2 propagator and interactions. Low energy π-N scattering can be well understood when Z=0. In this case, the coupling constants determined so as to minimize χ^2 are consistent with those from other analyses. Predicted phase shifts of s-, p- and d-waves are also compatible with those of energy independent analyses. The Scattering length values are in excellent agreement with the experimental ones.
